Six YSU Construction Students Named as 2013 Builders Association Scholarship Recipients

Six Youngstown State University students were recently awarded scholarships from The Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania (The Builders). The Builders has awarded scholarships to YSU students since 1971, selecting deserving men and women each year who demonstrate that they are excelling in the school’s construction-related programs. Including this year’s group of recipients, The Builders has awarded $140,210.

$2,000 Award recipients are Christopher Palmer, a freshman from Rogers, Ohio; and Tyler Schurko, a freshman from Hermitage, PA. Students earning $1,000 scholarships are Aaron Cessna, a junior from Boardman, Ohio; Michael Constiner, a senior from Warren, Ohio; Andre Silvers, Jr., a senior from Boardman, Ohio; and Kevin Smith, a senior from Hanoverton, Ohio.

The Builders Association has already allocated money in their 2014 budget to fund this program again next year.

Announcing the awards was Ed Stevens, President of Stevens Masonry, Inc. Additional scholarship committee members are Chairman Paul Johnson, President of Adolph Johnson & Son, and Roger Kreps, President of Roger Kreps Drywall, Inc.
